To kill the dragon you need the sword…
When I was younger i used to like heavy metal. I’ve got very long hair from 12 years old til 32, when I decided that being an skinhead means faster showers… I also used to dress like Yngwie J. Malmsteen or so… I even play the guitar for nine years, from 17 to 26, in some bands. No one has success and I finally get bored about that. I give my multieffects to some friends, although I still have my guitars -a bad red Fender Stratocaster copy and a black Ibanez RG470- and my amplifier -a 100wats Torqe Celestion-, I’ve actually not played it for years. It’s just being covered of dust on The Forgotten Room…
I used to like all kinds of metal, but mainly European things like Kai Hansen’s Helloween, Gamma Ray later, Scorpions, Iron Maiden… but also like “usian” ones like Dio, Rainbow, Judas Priest, Manowar… I even used to like Twisted Sister!
Of course not all the time I did like the same, I’ve vary a bit my ear taste through years, but I always used to like the essence of Heavy Metal, it used to be really a 80% of my life or so.
But one day I lost it. I do not know why neither exactly when, but it was just about from one day to the next that I left my guitar and the whole Metal thing. Now I listen some metal from time to time, but it’s not the same. I do not feel the magic that I used to feel when I listen or play it. May be just a matter of hormones…
Anyway today I like to listen some things that paroding metal are metal, and some are really good metal music, no worse like the original ones, and even better in some sense. One of those guys are the italians Nanowar (of Steel), and one of his simpler but better songs is this:
You can enjoy more Nanowar music in their space on Jamendo, a page with free music from alternative bands, often better than commercial ones. Enjoy it! (if you want
