No fishes for me
I began fishing last winter, when I bought a fishing rod for surf casting. Since I came to this city with sea, I’ve being seeing fishermen on the beaches and ports, and I wanted to try it. So I began fishing just with that rod and some hints that I found through the Internet.
The result was a disaster. In all that winter I fished just a little eel that I returned to the sea, so I put the rod in his bag until this winter… On November I’ve one lucky day on a beach that’s not common to fish nothing. But that night I did it. I fished three little “sargos” (Diplodus sargus sargus) -white seabream-, I released the two more little and sacrificed only the bigger. As I do not want the fish suffer too much, I did try to kill it hitting it with a stick that I found on the sand, but I think it was even worse… I finally cut its nape with a knife and its agony finished.
Well, despite that the fact was that I fished three nice fishes, so I began to go more frequently to that beach. I even bought a second rod, bigger than the first one. But from that day to today I’ve not fished nothing. At least I’ve done some friends, and now I do not go fishing alone usually.
Last night I was on “Musel” trading port on Gijón (Spain). You need a insurance card to go in, and I bought my one (€14,00) the day before because many people says that in that port there’re a lot of fishes, so I was anxious to try. The result again was that I did fish nothing, but my friend at least fished two little “aligotes” (Pagellus Acarne) -Axillary seabream-, but big enough to be fried. He used korean worm on his little hooks (n.3). I began using sardine with bigger hooks (n.5/0), but after its two captures I put n.3 hooks with koeran worms also on one of my rods, but it seemed like “aligotes” was not there yet when I did that.
I keep on trying for two hours more, using both korean worm and sardine. Even I did try last 20 minutes using squid, just with one rod while I was gathering up the other rod and the rest of my fishing accessories, without luck. Moreover, I lost two leads.
So, there was no fishes for me… again!
Late night I’ve a knightmare: I was in a place full of seabasses (Dicentrarchus labrax), and I tried to fish one of them. I could see them there on the transparent watter, they was hunting and eating another fishes so there was a great chance for fish some of them, but every time I’ve my rod prepared, the fishes moves to another location far from my hooks, but visible to my eyes. Then I move to that new location, and try again, but fishes moves another time far away… and so on… I pursued them from one place to another but was unable to catch them…
Sad, but the man of the fishing shop were I usually bought accesories told me hours before that this winter is being particularly bad for fishing, so I’ll keep on trying anyway…

Muy two fishing rods. The picture was taking with my HTC Touch Find.

Finally last night I fished two fishes.
One its called in spanish “baboso”, but in this region is common to call it “pixapu”. It’s scientific name is “Blennius pholis”. I did take two pictures with my HTC, unfortunatly it was moving and with the low light of the trade port pictures look really bad. Anyway, it looks close to this, but more pink than green: http://www.warrenphotographic.co.uk/photography/cats/11772.jpg
The other one was again an “aligote” (http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?ID=889), but too small.
So, I release both fishes. But I feel a bit more postive than yesterday…
